Reading Notes: Arabian Nights, Part A

Notes

  • There's a few things I would change in this story.
  • I don't really like the fact that the prince we are supposed to sympathize had a slave and mortally injured him. That is pretty messed up.
  • also the wife being his cousin is a big yikes
  • like, I don't think she should die for wanting to save her lover and get revenge on the man that hurt him.
  • so, either I should change the protagonist, or the antagonist 
  • Oh, what if the enchantress is keeping the prince's consort under a spell to keep him asleep
  • maybe she was in love with him, but he was in love with the prince
  • so she cursed them both
  • that's a much better story

Update : I have a part two , in case anybody who has commented before would like a new introduction post to comment on. Hello, my name is Arthur. Well, that is only half-true. Arthur is my pseudonym, but it is a pseudonym that I use quite often. I go by Arthur in most online mediums, and it is the name I give myself when I play video games (or choose-your-own-adventure games, when the option to pick a name is available). There is a certain separation of selves when I do this. Think of it like Jekyll and Hyde, but a book-accurate version. You see, Hyde is not a separate personality to Jekyll, just a different face that Jekyll uses to express a hidden aspect of himself. Arthur is confident and self-assured, "Richard" (to refer to my in-person self) is not. This puts me in a bit of a predicament: how to introduce myself while keeping the two as separate as I can. Reading Notes: Brothers Grimm (Crane), Part B

Notes I like this story, it has Rumpelstiltskin vibes but the girl actually keeps her word which is nice and sure, she was lazy, but that can easily be rewritten as her just not knowing how to use a spinning wheel the spinsters are mvps and also probably fairies  because come on that's some fairy nonsense  hehehehe wingmen  (Image Information: The Three Spinsters illustration by Robert Bell (1912); Wikimedia Commons ) -A.
